Build a Sandustry Flower Factory Without Clogs

A Flower factory is the bridge between seed processing and Florinol. Most failures are not mysterious: Wet Seeds fail to reach a planter, Flowers lack growth space, Fire is uncontrolled, or output blocks the next cycle.

Commission one Planter Box

The official Planter Box page says a Wet Seed touching it grows into a Flower. Feed one verified Wet Seed and leave open growth space. Do not begin with a deep pile; you need to see whether contact and growth occur.

The same page says Gold and Amethelis can pass through the Planter Box. Keep a clear destination below before harvesting.

Harvest manually first

The official Flower page says weapons or Fire destroy Flowers and release Amethelis plus Gold. Use a controlled weapon test first so the growth, harvest and output routes are proven independently from an automated burner.

If nothing drops, verify that a full Flower formed and the selected action damages it. Avoid copying output counts from screenshots; use the official page and your current build.

Automate Fire with the official method

The pinned developer FAQ recommends Thermal Buffers and Pyro Dispensers for automated Flower burning, with a heat source such as the Flamethrower charging the buffers. Install this only after manual harvest succeeds.

Keep the heat module isolated from stored Seeds, Amethelis and Dry Amethelis. An unintended hot pixel can move the chain into Florin production before the Dryer stage.

Contain growth without burying access

Players report Vines and Flowers spreading into belts and walls when growth chambers are cramped or open. Use a dedicated enclosure with service access, but leave enough vertical room for a Flower to form. Stop Wet Seed input before opening it.

Do not rely on an old demo screenshot for wall thickness. Test the current chamber with one planter, then inspect every boundary after several cycles.

Separate Gold and Amethelis

Give the documented pass-through outputs an empty lower bay. Gold and drifting Amethelis behave differently, so separate only after observing where each collects. Move Amethelis toward the Dryer without letting it drift back into Fire.

If output backs up into the planter, stop Wet Seeds. Clear the valuable output first, then Vines or remaining Flower material, and restart one cycle.

Connect to the Dryer

Amethelis is a Wisp that drifts side to side. Contain the transfer and deliver it to a Dryer supplied with Steam. Keep the Dryer chamber distinct from Flower Fire so Dry Amethelis is not burned prematurely.

Confirm Dry Amethelis at the next inspection point. Only then connect the Florin burner and Condenser described in the Florinol guide.

Recover a clogged Flower module

Stop Wet Seed input, isolate Fire, create output capacity, remove loose growth from access routes, clear the planter surface, and restart manually. If the first new Wet Seed grows and the harvested outputs leave, the module has recovered.

Scaling comes last. Copy the smallest module that survives full output, empty input, Fire shutdown and reload rather than enlarging an unproven chamber.
